  38. I installed Az/El rotors on a tripod on my roof this weekend.  Next, I plan to
  39. buy some M2 antennas:    14 el. CP yagi for VHF
  40.             30 el. CP yagi for UHF
  41.  
  42. I must use the short VHF antenna because I have light-duty rotors, and a long
  43. boom would bump into tree branches and an exhaust vent.
  44.  
  45. Can anyone answer the following questions?
  46.  
  47. 1. Is it (mechanically) easy to build a phasing/relay assembly for RH/LH
  48. polarity switching on the M2 antennas?
  49.  
  50. 2. Is the M2 crossboom really 10 ft. long when assembled?
  51.  
  52. 3. Would a 7 ft. crossboom be long enough for VHF and UHF yagis on each end,
  53. and a future 2x3 ft. dish in the middle? (i.e. without undesired interaction
  54. between the antennas)
  55.  
  56. 4. Would a preamp at the VHF yagi feedpoint distort the pattern of the
  57. antenna?  Or should I mount the preamp on the mast?
  58.  
  59. 5. Do some preamp models switch fast enough (PIN diodes maybe?) to allow me to
  60. transmit "through" the preamp without a timing circuit that bypasses the
  61. preamp before keying the transmitter?  If so, do these preamps require a PTT
  62. line routed up to the preamp, or do they detect the RF?
  63.

  117. This is a really stupid thing to say...typical bias from a "PC" clone...
  118. Terry Stader posts a list every month to this newsgroup listing amateur
  119. radio software available for the Mac.  There is lots of software available
  120. and a lot more on the way.

  136. While at Dayton this year I picked up a Smartelevel (microprocessor 
  137. controlled level) that can communicate with a computer to give elevation 
  138. information for tracking purposes (you mount it on the antenna strcuture).
  139.  
  140. The problem is that when I bought it, I was told that the information I 
  141. need to interface to it and the communication protocal was commonly 
  142. available on most Ham radio BBS's. I haven't been able to find anything.
  143.  
  144. Does anyone out there know what it is I'm refferring to and can
  145. point in the direction of the info I need to talk to this thing ?

  158. The most current orbital elements from the NORAD two-line element sets are
  159. carried on the Celestial BBS, (513) *253-9767*, and are updated daily (when
  160. possible).  Documentation and tracking software are also available on this
  161. system.  As a service to the satellite user community, the most current
  162. elements for the current shuttle mission are provided below.  The Celestial
  163. BBS may be accessed 24 hours/day at 300, 1200, 2400, 4800, or 9600 bps using
  164. 8 data bits, 1 stop bit, no parity.

  166. Element sets (also updated daily), shuttle elements, and some documentation
  167. and software are also available via anonymous ftp from archive.afit.af.mil

  185. I am one of the control operators of the w4bs repeater system in Memphis,TN.
  186. We are looking for the frequency and duration of the NASA courtesy tones.

  188. We would like to change the courtesy tones of our repeaters to remember the 
  189. 25th Anniversary of the first man on moon.
